It was the Wisconsin River that first drew settlers to this area originally known as “Big Bull Falls” around 1837.
Marathon County, which is the largest county in Wisconsin, was organized in 1850 at about the same time, Big Bull Falls began to be called Wausau. Translations of Wausau ranged from meaning “far away place” to “noise like thunder.”, the latter getting its meaning from the water rushing over the falls in the Wisconsin River.
Wausau has an array of cultural landmarks which include The Grand Theater and The Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum. These cultural institutions have paved a strong commitment to arts in Central Wisconsin.
This area is also home to Granite Peak Ski Area on Rib Mountain which is the highest skiable peak in the State and one of the oldest in the nation.

Luke with SERVPRO was extremely professional and went above and beyond for us when we discovered mold in our basement. He wasn’t pushy and listened to what we needed done and didn’t pressure us into anything extra. He answered all of our questions and was there the day after we called. His crew cleaned up the mold and did an excellent job. Highly recommend this company to all! Thanks again Luke!
I would give SERVPRO 10 stars if I could! We had a dishwasher install gone wrong and our finished basement had significant water damage. I called SERVPRO and they were here the next day to dry everything out. They were extremely responsive and came every single day to check on the drying process in the kitchen and basement. They were extremely flexible with scheduling the repairs. Looking at the finished project, you’d never know we had any sort of damage at all. All of the staff is very professional and friendly. If you have water damage, they are the ones to call!!

SERVPRO is an excellent organization with exceptional customer service. He was very informative with helpful tips on drying out the basement. Jamie went above and beyond giving us peace of mind in a crisis situation.
I have never had a company treat me as well as SERVPRO. I had frozen pipes last winter and the crew went above and beyond to make my spare bedroom and laundry room look so much better than it did before the damage. The crew didn't hesitate to move furniture to different rooms when asked. I am so pleased, I tell everyone about SERVPRO. They are DEFFINATELY a "class act"!!!
